open arts studio

Art matters, and we are all creative. I deeply believe in the healing power of the arts and know from my experience how vital creating is to mental health. However you choose to engage with the arts - whether it's drawing, dancing, or doodling…not only is it fun, but it also has the power to help you process what's going on in your life or take your mind off things for a bit. Everyone, regardless of their age, ability, or skill level, should have access to creative expression. That's why I want to create a community arts hub that provides materials, education, and community to all people. A place where anyone can explore visual and performing arts in a safe, welcoming environment. Will you join us?

Gather is a relaxed, come-as-you-are art afternoon. Bring your own project, or dig through my stash of supplies and see what sparks your interest. Each month, I’ll also offer a few “art invitations”—simple prompts to help get the creative juices flowing. Whether you come to play, experiment, or just be around other makers, this is your space to unwind, connect, and create in community—no pressure, no expectations.

Upcoming dates:

Saturday, August 16 from 1-4pm

Saturday, September 20 from 1-4pm

Space is limited, please RSVP: jendoolittlephoto@gmail.com

Learn is a monthly photography workshop series I’ll be offering starting in 2026. Each session will focus on a different theme—like light, composition, portraiture, or storytelling—with a mix of guidance, practice, and creative prompts. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to deepen your skills, these workshops are designed to be approachable, hands-on, and rooted in curiosity. Come ready to explore photography in a supportive, no-pressure environment.

ENOUGH! Plays to End Gun Violence

On October 6, 2025, communities across the country will come together to confront gun violence through the power of storytelling. As part of this national initiative, six short plays—written by teens and selected from a nationwide call—will be performed in staged readings on the same evening by schools, theaters, and arts organizations coast to coast.

Open Arts Studio, in partnership with Rio Rancho Creative Crossroads, is proud to bring this powerful event to Rio Rancho for the first time. Our staged reading will feature local students, artists, and community members lending their voices to this urgent conversation.

Together, we can spark dialogue, inspire change, and honor the voices of young people who are calling for a safer future.

We’re currently building our team and would love for you to be part of it—whether as a performer, volunteer, sponsor, or audience member.

Are you interested in being a part of ENOUGH! Plays to End Gun Violence? We’d love to have you be part of the conversation!
